Some experience required - Students usually start with Intermediate Contemporary before progressing to the Senior class. Uniform: Tight fitting black clothing, bare-feet. Class Difficulty: (1 - Easiest 10 - Difficult) ★★★★★★★☆☆☆ Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Exercises will build from intermediate class into senior, so this class is more difficult and more demanding. This style of contemporary is called Horton, Back in the 1920’s lester Horton created this style of dance, based on native American dances, anatomical studies and also a lot of other influences. This style is also very jazz based, so a lot of the movement is familiar, but with a Horton twist on it. The contemporary style required dedication, strength & focus. Students will have the opportunity to showcase what they have learnt through choreography in our annual and upper school shows, as well as well as the chance to perform with Studio 19 at Disneyland Paris. This class does not do exams.
